Or just re-finding your path?
I quit my job 5 years ago today with nothing but a coaching certification (and vision board workshop) to keep me busy…do I regret it?
No
January is the biggest month for resignations. Many of us come back from quiet winter holidays having reflected on what we’re doing with our lives and decide it’s time to step up and find more meaning, fulfilment, growth, and joy in our working lives.
Is this you?
If so, get in touch, we should talk, I can help with your transition.
Five years ago I was back home in Nairobi, after a UK Christmas, and ready for a change, new challenge, personal and professional growth, and honestly, a period of not associating myself, my identity, with my job.
That last one would take some undoing; I’d had decades of my identity being a Government Economist, a Diplomat, a Company Director...who WAS I before my work?
Resonate with anyone?
It does with many leaders I work with as they’re so driven and passionate about their work, they lose themselves in it.
I still do sometimes, the workaholic in me takes hold occasionally and the other important things in life can blur, temporarily.
But that’s OK, because work IS important to me; I want my time on the planet to be useful, productive, impactful, as well as joyful, easeful and adventurous.
AND life is so much more than productive work.
So back to resignation day, five years ago…
Driving home from work after handing in my notice, I stopped by the Afrolove creative studio (VERY unlike me!) for a Vision Boarding Workshop – what great timing!
I made it, then promptly tidied it away, shipped it from Kenya to Scotland then hid it under the bed - I just found it installing the new reading lights we got for Christmas.
Looking at it now, with the words, phrases and photos, I can safely say I am living my vision.
I’m not “there” wherever that Nirvana is, but I’m on my path, enjoying the journey (the chase), feeling free, fulfilled, useful, joyful and easeful much more of the time than not.
And when I’m not, I know that I’m just one thought away from being back to my natural state where anything is possible, joyful and easeful, the place where miracles can happen and much good work can be done.
If you’re ready to find that place for you, or even just re-find your path, get in touch, we should talk, I’ll be taking on new clients later this month and we could form an epic partnership if you’re ready for real change.
Happy 2025 everyone!
Impactfully Yours
