Feeling stuck?

Updated: Oct 9

3 ways to free yourself

I worked with two new clients yesterday – one a seasoned business owner, and one senior manager in a larger firm – but they both came with the same, stuck, stagnant, energy. Which is OK, because energy is something I can do something about!

Exploring where they were at, I discovered the two had a lot of thoughts in common:

  • I’m great at what I do, and work hard at it.

  • I’m not getting the recognition or traction I deserve.

  • I want to do more, be more, have more impact, but “urgh” is it worth it?

Which led to shared feelings of:

  • Frustration;

  • Helplessness; and

  • Loneliness.

And the following questions:

  • How do I know I’m doing the right things?

  • How do I get more recognition for what I do?

  • Who can help me?

As a coach, I rarely offer advice, but my questions did point them in certain directions to look for the answers.

If you are feeling a bit stuck, stagnant, or uninspired in your work or business, here’s three directions for you to look in, so see what you see, then come tell me about it.

  1. Re-energise: It’s time to step up your leadership – and for that you’ll need energy – so reflect on what energises you – people, places, activities, thoughts - and get more of them into your day. Reflect on what drains you too – how have you let those drains creep in? And which can you start to say no to? Get a good sleep and come back to point 2 tomorrow, fresh in body and mind.

  1. Re-connect: with your purpose, your mission, the reason you’re here. Why did you set up the business or say yes to the job? What problems are you solving? For who? Why is that still important to you? What will be the positive impact on people and/or the planet if your reach your goals in this space? How will that feel? What will happen if you give up? How will that feel?

  1. Re-commit: to you, your success, your impact.  Now you’ve reminded yourself why you are here; on this planet, in this business, reading this blog… it’s time to commit to showing up for yourself. If you don’t have your back, nobody will, so start there. Believe and trust you’re meant to act on your why, and leave the world in a better place. AND, we all do better when we add in the support of others. So my bonus piece of advice…

For more help on trusting yourself checkout this blog on trust.

Bonus: Share the mission with a peer and ask for support; if you leave your mission in your head it’ll get caught in the dark scary corners never to see the light of day… so let someone in, tell them about it, ask them to help you develop it further, encourage you and ask about your progress…a little encouragement goes such a long way!

If you’d like me on your team, to shine light on the dark corners, help you dream bigger, do better, and feel nicer, join my Community or book a call to talk it through, and we’ll see where we go from there.
