What does your next level look like?

More responsibility? A bigger team? More impact?

Most leaders I coach want more freedom.

More headspace, more choice, and more energy for what matters.

Because when you’re ambitious, it’s very easy to assume that the next level means more. Another goal, another opportunity, another level of responsibility.

You achieve something, enjoy it for approximately five minutes, then start thinking about what’s next.

I know that one well.

I also know that underneath it all, success is far more than achievement.

What if success felt better too?

I work with ambitious people. They want to do meaningful work, have an impact and keep learning. I have absolutely no interest in persuading them to want less.

But I am interested in how they achieve it.

Because I meet leaders who are doing brilliantly on paper, while privately wondering how long they can keep going at this pace.

They’re taking on too much, their heads are full, and they’re still the person everyone relies on. They want to think bigger, but spend much of their time dealing with what’s right in front of them.

And sometimes there’s an uncomfortable question underneath it all:

I’ve achieved so much, so why doesn’t it feel like enough?

“It should be enough,” you hear yourself say.

A broader definition of success

From years spent coaching ambitious, impact-driven leaders, I’ve seen that achievement alone isn’t what they’re really after. And, let’s be honest, I know it from being one too.

We want to achieve ambitious things and make a difference, but we also want to lead well, have freedom in our lives and enjoy what we’ve worked so hard to create.

For the leaders I work with, success tends to come down to five dimensions:

Ambition

Being clear on what you truly want next, and genuinely excited by where you’re going.

Impact

Making the difference you know you’re capable of, and getting the recognition it deserves.

Leadership

Leading in a way you’re proud of, with a team that can move important work forward without you.

Freedom

Choosing where your time and attention go, and being able to switch off without everything depending on you.

Fulfilment

Success feeling energising, worthwhile, and aligned with the life you actually want to be living.

You might be flying in some of those areas and frustrated in others. You might realise you’ve been so focused on one that you haven’t thought about the others for years.

That’s useful to know.

You’re whole, complete and great at what you do.

It’s about recognising what’s already working, seeing where there’s more available to you, and deciding what you want your next level to look like.

So, what does your next level look like?

I’ve been thinking about that question a lot, because it’s at the heart of so many of my coaching conversations.

And it’s why I’ve created The Next Level Scorecard.

It’s a short, free assessment designed for ambitious leaders who are already successful and curious about what else might be possible.

You’ll get your personalised results across five areas: Ambition, Impact, Leadership, Freedom and Fulfilment, helping you see what’s already working brilliantly, where there could be more available to you, and where you might want to focus next.

Perhaps your next level is a bigger role or bolder ambition.

Perhaps it’s making more impact without having to be across everything.

Or perhaps it’s finishing a successful week with energy left for the rest of your life.

Only you get to decide what success looks like from here.
