“You still have a coach?” one of my new clients recently asked me “what do YOU still need help with?” this brought a smile to my face; the answer would have taken some time and the session was all about her, not me.
It’s not the first time I’d been asked so here's why I hired my very first coach three years ago (on paper), what I now realise I went to her for, and what I really got. I’ve done the same for the next five coaches I've partnered with and my initial thoughts on what I THINK I want to achieve from working with my next one, though as I've learnt, I'll get this, and a whole lot more too!

1. Amelie Desgroppes
On paper - to help me write a keynote speech
In reality – to find out why I cried my eyes out in her ‘unleash your creativity workshop’
What I got – ownership of my story, taking back my power from those I’d given it away to, freedom from feelings and thinking that no longer served me, and a kick ass keynote speech at the Sydney Women in Travel Awards.
2. Cece Ojany
On paper – to help me improve the performance of the four businesses I managed.
In reality – to feel heard, supported, challenged, championed and believed in.
What I got – Clarity and confidence to take prioritised action that strengthened my teams, financials and products. Improved sleep with peace of mind I was taking the right action. My long-term vision; what was out of alignment with it, and action I could take towards it (spoiler alert - I quit my corporate job and re-trained as an Executive Coach & B Corp Consultant).
3. Tony Robbins
On paper - to get me all gee’d up to launch my business.
In reality – to join a new community of open minded, growth-oriented entrepreneurs that would inspire and support me on my next journey.
What I got – a mission so big it scared me, strategies to build towards it and explosive energy and deep inspiration to take action on it every day. Oh and a trampoline (long story).
4. Niiamah Ashong
On paper - to do the inner work on myself I saw other coaches had done.
In reality – to find out who I really was, behind all wall of confidence, courage and positivity.
What I got – I found out I WAS a curious, courageous leader with infectious boundless positive energy who could be and accomplish incredible things if I kept my Pleaser and Hyper-Achiever in check. WIP!
5. Rich Litvin
On paper - to help me build and grow an impactful word-of-mouth business.
In reality – to gain the confidence to build a business that was fun, flowing, easy and impactful.
What I got – increasing confidence to be me, do business my way, up level my ambitions for impact and an incredible community of like-hearted, different-minded coaches to support and collaborate with me. Unconventional Leaders was born from this community (come join us on the 24th!).
6. Denise Duffield-Thomas
On paper – to increase the income of my business
In reality – to work on my money-mindset, uncovering and removing money blocks that stop me from receiving the value I deserve from the value I create in the world.
What I got – a healthy appreciation of money and what good it can do in the right hands. I serve, I deserve. My income, influence and impact is growing!
7. My next Business Coach
Yet to be named, but tomorrow I join a Start-Up Accelerator Program with 1-2-1 Business Coach. I want help scaling my start up to accelerate my income, influence and impact in the world by putting more of a focus on B2B – working with more Good Businesses that want their income, influence and impact accelerated by up-levelling their Senior Managers and Execs. Know any that would love my support?
What’s getting in the way of you accelerating your impact in the world right now?
